July & August 2010 Class Schedule
Make sure to bring your sewing supplies and tools to class
and purchase your fabric/yarn and other materials at Thimbles before class.
Sewing Experience Levels
Please note that classes have been given a sewing experience rating.  This will help you decide which class is right for you.  If you are not sure, just give us a call!

Beginner:  A beginning sewer has no sewing experience.
Advanced Beginner:  An advanced beginner can use a sewing machine and has little sewing experience.
Intermediate:  An intermediate sewer has completed small sewing projects independently and understands some general techniques and vocabulary of sewing.
Advanced:  An advanced sewer has successfully completed projects independently and is comfortable using a sewing machine.

Open Knitting/Crochet
Every Monday from 1 - 4 PM $8.50 per hour
Bring your in progress knitting and crochet projects you're having difficulty with.  Annette will be here to get you through them.

 

Open Sewing
Every Thursday from 1 - 8 pm.  $8.50 per hr.

Open sewing is the time for you to work on your projects that are already in progress.  Store personnel are available to answer questions.

 

Bag Of The Month
“Super Size Tote”
July 14 and 21 (2 classes)

This super sized tote can carry it all!! It will hold your sewing machine and all your tools  or anything you care to stuff into it! It is made with 1 and 1/2 yards of Fabric that is pre-quilted, and you will need 1 yard of coordinating fabric. No batting needed! This bag is so easy to adapt to any size that you’ll want to make several!

 

Beginning Knitting

July 15 and 22 (2 classes)

10 AM —11:30 AM

Learn to cast on stitches, knit, purl and cast off stitches while creating a one of a kind scarf.  As you complete your very first project you will practice the skill of maintaining an even yarn tension resulting in even stitching.

Beginning Knitting class will start you on your way to a lifetime of knitting projects!

Sew with Debbie Ciola and make an Apron from a preprinted panel.

Serger  Pillowcase—Tues., Jul 27— 1 to 3 PM

Donna Oakley will show you in a snap how to create a pillowcase using the serger.

Stocking— Wed., July 28—10 AM to 12 PM

Make a holiday stocking from a preprinted panel with Jennifer Emerson that you can turn into a unique creation with embellishments. 

Serger  Gift Bag—Thurs., Jul 29— 1 PM to 3 PM

Make this super quick gift bag with Donna Oakley using a serger. Any gift will be extra special in this bag.

Wall Hanging — Fri., July 30—10 AM to 12 PM

Make a holiday wall hanging or table topper from a preprinted panel with Jennifer Emerson.  This project would be a great gift as well!

A Square Week for Kids!!
Square Root Quilt

Monday through Thursday, August 16, 17, 18, and 19 (4 classes)10 AM—12 PM each day (Students must attend all classes)

Here’s chance to create a lap quilt in a week!  Select fabrics to match your room, or make this quilt as a gift for someone special.  Creating a quilt is a great way to spend a week of summer vacation!

This class is for advanced beginner and intermediate students. Students must register for the class and select fabric to be pre-cut one week before the classes begin.

 

Holiday Block of the Week Quilt

Friday Mornings Beginning  August 20 Through October 22  (10 classes)

Each week create a block for this holiday quilt that will be the talk of all your holiday guests. The quilt includes charming houses made with holiday fabrics. The kits for each block will be available in 2 different fabric collections. Choose your favorite collection and make a quilt you and your family will cherish this year and for many holidays to come.

 

Beginning Sewing

Tues., August 24  and 31 (2 classes)

6 PM to 9 PM (Beginner)
Teacher:  Jennifer Emerson

Learn basic sewing skills and how to construct a draw string bag, an apron, and if time allows, skirt or pull on pants that you will wear with pride.  You will be introduced to tools, terms, and techniques for both hand and machine sewing, and you will gain the know-how that will be the foundation for your future creativity.  Sewing is a skill for a lifetime!  Sewing is relaxing!  Sewing is fun!

 

Machine Software Know-How
Aug. 24(1 class)
1PM —3 PM (Advanced Beginner)
Teacher: Donna Oakley
$18.00 Plus materials             

Come and learn the basics of machine software. Learn to transfer files to your embroidery machine and how to copy, paste, and combine designs that you can stitch out on your machine. Come to class and learn to make wise choices when making investments in machine software. This class will help make your embroidery fun and easy.
